Pioneering Collaboration: Statista Signed Data Partnership with Department of Health – Abu Dhabi

Statista, one of the world’s leading Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) companies, has entered a long-term collaboration with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH). In this context, the DoH will provide validated healthcare quality indicators for Statista’s global ‘World’s Best Hospitals’ ranking, conducted in collaboration with Newsweek.

The partnership marks the first time that Statista is entering into a formal data partnership with a government health regulator. By obtaining data directly from the DoH through this initiative, Statista Healthcare, the specialized unit of Statista for quality transparency and data-driven transformation in global healthcare, can use reliable, standardized indicators that reflect real performance and thus support the evidence-based representation of hospitals in their global rankings.

Validated quality data from Abu Dhabi’s hospitals enhances global comparability

The DoH is especially fitted for this collaboration since hospitals in Abu Dhabi are required to report validated quality metrics to the DoH on a regular basis. This information can now serve as verified input for Statista’s and Newsweek’s internationally recognized ranking framework and will be integrated in the upcoming editions of ‘World’s Best Hospitals’.

“This collaboration represents a significant step forward for Statista. We are proud to start the first partnership of its kind with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, one of the global pioneers in quality-led healthcare transformation,” said Hubertus Bitting, Chief Commercial Officer of Statista. “By incorporating validated, system-wide performance data from a governmental source, we aim to further enhance the quality and transparency of our methodology. At the same time, we see this as a blueprint for future partnerships with other ministries of health, public health authorities, and healthcare organizations around the world,” Bitting continued.

The collaboration is designed as a long-term partnership, allowing for continuous data and knowledge exchange, integration of additional indicators, and regular updates. It follows the four defined key pillars: validated data, methodological integrity, mutual transparency, and future scalability.

A partnership to advance healthcare excellence

“Through this collaboration, the exceptional standards and performance of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare facilities can be appropriately incorporated into the evaluation of hospitals worldwide, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading hub for healthcare quality and innovation,” stated H.E. Dr. Fayeza AI Yafei, Executive Director of Healthcare Quality Sector at the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.

The initiative reinforces the involved institutions’ commitment to drive healthcare quality, transparency, and data-driven excellence. While also reflecting Statista’s mission to strengthen evidence-based, data-driven healthcare rankings worldwide.

“The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi is taking a leading role in demonstrating how healthcare systems can proactively shape international visibility through trusted, quality-assured data, while respecting the independence of external assessment models. We are excited to help set this precedent. Together we will shape a global paradigm for data-driven hospital benchmarking,” highlighted Matthias Hirsch, Vice President of Statista Healthcare.
