Dr. Kamal Al-Gharibi, Chairman of the European Business Council for Africa and the Middle East
"We are working to keep pace with challenges to avoid global crises and ensure the stability of people worldwide"
“We have agreements with Libya worth over $2 billion within the reconstruction framework”

Following his participation in the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos 2026, Dr. Kamal Al-Gharibi, Chairman of the European Business Council for Africa and the Middle East and the GKSD Group, affirmed that the world is witnessing significant economic challenges and changes that necessitate working to avoid crises and keep pace with these challenges in a way that guarantees global stability for people in vital sectors such as health, energy, and food. He pointed out that there are countries whose people need reconstruction and development of vital sectors that are linked to the daily lives of citizens, including Syria, Libya, Iraq, and other countries with which we seek to cooperate for sustainable development.
He noted that the San Donato Group (Gksd) recently signed agreements with Libya worth over $2 billion (more than €1.7 billion) as part of an international cooperation strategy aimed at transferring Italian expertise, skills, organizational models, and experience—particularly that of San Raffaele Hospital—to Libya. This includes the healthcare system, engineering, and energy sectors.
Al-Gharibi explained that the agreement encompasses sending missions, exchanging studies, and providing institutional support through an alliance between Gksd and the Libyan Reconstruction and Development Fund, led by Belqasim Haftar. It also includes the development of Benghazi Medical Center, the region’s main nutrition hospital, and the city’s cancer center.
Al-Gharibi added, “These objectives represent a tangible and significant step in the cooperation between the San Donato Group, Gksd, and Libya. We will assist in the continuous conversion of waste to energy in Benghazi to enhance energy efficiency in urban areas, ensuring effective services worthy of the Libyan people.”
