Encare signs agreement with National Cancer Institute of Thailand to support ERAS® implementation

Encare AB has signed an agreement with the National Cancer Institute of Thailand (NCI Thailand), its first hospital partner in the country, to support the implementation of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®) in colorectal surgery. The partnership with the Bangkok-based specialist oncology hospital, which operates under Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health, marks Encare’s entry into the Thai market and further strengthens its presence in Asia-Pacific.
As part of the collaboration, NCI Thailand will implement evidence-based ERAS® guidelines in colorectal surgery, using Encare’s ERAS® Interactive Audit System (EIAS).
ERAS® guidelines cover the entire surgical pathway, from preoperative preparation to postoperative recovery, and have been shown to reduce complications and shorten hospital stays.
EIAS will enable the surgical team to measure adherence to ERAS® guidelines, track clinical outcomes such as complications and length of hospital stay, and compare results with other hospitals using the system. The data will support ongoing evaluation and help identify opportunities to improve patient care.
As part of the implementation, NCI Thailand’s colorectal team will participate in the ERAS® Implementation Program (EIP), which provides a structured approach to introducing and sustaining the ERAS® guidelines in clinical practice.
NCI Thailand aims to achieve ERAS® Qualification, which is awarded by the ERAS® Society following an independent assessment. While the initial focus is colorectal surgery, ERAS® implementation may be extended to other surgical specialties over time.
“Implementing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®) protocols has transformed routine cancer care throughout the entire surgical pathway. Furthermore, the ERAS® Interactive Audit System (EIAS) enables splendid, real-time data analysis, driving comprehensive improvements across clinical teams and healthcare societies.”, says Dr. Hathaiwan Moungthard, Oncology Surgeon at affiliated with medical facilities such as National Cancer Institute.
“The National Cancer Institute of Thailand is an important first hospital partner for Encare as we enter the Thai market. The collaboration gives us an opportunity to support ERAS® implementation at a specialist oncology hospital within Thailand’s public healthcare system. We look forward to working with the NCI team as it introduces the guidelines in colorectal surgery,” says Rasmus Waller, CEO of Encare.
Encare works with 22 hospitals across 11 countries in Asia-Pacific, including Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore, an ERAS® Society Centre of Excellence; Gleneagles Hospital Johor in Malaysia, which has achieved ERAS® Qualification in knee arthroplasty; and FV Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
