Dubai Derma 2023 Generates Over AED2.2 billion in Direct and Indirect Deals

The event brought together over 24,000 visitors and participants from 114 countries

More than 1,440 international brands were showcased from 480 companies

The 22nd edition of the Dubai World Dermatology and Laser Conference and Exhibition – Dubai Derma 2023, concluded in generating a record-breaking amount of direct and indirect business deals valued at over AED 2.2 billion.

The event attracted more than 24,000 visitors and participants from 114 countries, making it the largest edition to date. This highlights Dubai’s position as a leading international city for major industries to connect, network, and explore partnerships, while underscoring the UAE’s position as an important front runner in the global medical and scientific sector. Overall space of the event spanned across 30,000 square meters through all its exhibition and conference halls.

Dubai Derma 2023, the largest scientific dermatology event in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent region, featured prominent specialists and experts in the dermatology and cosmetics sector, industry leaders, and key decision-makers from the region and across the world over three days at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Several new product launches were displayed throughout the exhibition and the conference halls featured the latest breakthrough scientific research and findings in the field.

His Highness Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated, inaugurated the 22nd edition and toured the exhibition halls to examine the latest developments and technologies in the field of dermatology and laser treatments.

During his tour, H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum was accompanied by H.E. Amb. Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Derma and Chairman of INDEX Holding; Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, Professor of Dermatology and Chairman of Dubai Derma Conference; Dr. Hassan Galadari, Head of Scientific Committee for Dubai Derma Conference; Dr. Abdul Wahab Al Fouzan, President of Arab Academy of Dermatology & Aesthetics; and several other prominent figures in the field of dermatology and aesthetics.

Dr. Ibrahim Galadari, explained: “The event serves as an educational institution and mentoring opportunity for newly graduated doctors to increase their medical and cosmetic abilities.” He also stressed the profession’s ethical aspect and the need to maintain the high quality that is the interface of this specialty.

Approximately 340 international experts delivered 360 scientific sessions, held 80 specialized workshops, and 90 digital poster presentations were showcases by international professionals. Key topics that were addressed at the event included medical, therapeutic, pediatric, surgical, cosmetic dermatology and laser.

H.E. Amb. Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani acknowledged the event’s contribution to the Dubai Economic Agenda – D33, which aims to double the size of Dubai’s economy over the next decade and consolidate its position among the top three global cities.

The large participation of experts, doctors, and representatives from well-known companies specializing in the manufacturing of medical equipment and supplies reflects the high level of confidence in Dubai as one of the safest destinations for global gatherings.

Dr. Hassan Galadari, stated, “Dubai Derma 2023 featured a variety of themes and agendas, in addition to participation from new countries. We covered several important topics this year about dermatology and its future, including the most recent research in the fields of skincare, beauty, and dermatology.”

Dr. Hassan added, “In recent years, the fields of dermatology and cosmetic surgery have undergone significant growth, which has boosted innovation and competitiveness in these fields. Experts and representatives involve themselves in important conferences like Dubai Derma to constantly work towards relating science to the cosmetic side of skincare and provide sufficient evidence to serve as a strong link between internal and external beauty.”

Dubai Derma 2023 featured more than 1,440 international brands on display from over 480 regional and global companies. The exhibition featured dedicated country pavilions from Korea, France, and Italy, where their most popular products from major global brands will be available for purchase and distribution. Additional strong country representation was also witnessed from China, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Spain, UK, and USA.

Brittany Lynn, Director of LC Cell in the USA, stated: “We are specialized in regenerative medicine for cosmetics, OTC, and drugs. We have participated in Dubai Derma for almost 10 years now and the excitement this year was great. There were many doctors from Dubai and all over the world, not just in the region. We are excited to be back and hope to continue our participation next year. Each year we continue to grow here, and we meet new people, and I think there are lots of opportunities.”

Haitham Ramzy, Head of thePrescription Unit of Galderma in UAE, explained: “We have participated in the largest congresses, and Dubai Derma is considered one of the largest. We have participated since the first edition of Dubai Derma, so we have so many memories, and we will not miss the chance to participate again.”

Dubai Derma 2023 continued the second day and featured more practical workshops, an industry symposium, and product demonstrations where it also provided a dedicated platform for exhibiting companies to conduct special training and workshops focusing on presenting key advancements and developments of their products and innovations. These activities provided an opportunity for hands-on training and key-insights into the products that experts are now utilizing to reshape the industry.

Dr. Noura Lebbar, Aesthetic Surgeon, and Professor at University of Genoa – Italy, delivered a specialized training session and workshop titled Microneedling Treatment with the Use of Active Ingredients and NeopenMed Device by ToskaniMed. Dr. Noura, stated, “In the last 20 years, the derma market for anti-aging and hair-loss has increased by more than 100 percent. Due to increased demand, we wanted to provide a nonevasive solution that can provide fast results safely and without any pain to the patient by combining microneedling and active ingredients.”

One of the highlight lectures during the conference addressing the latest scientific developments in the field of dermatology was delivered by Professor Abdul Razzaque Ahmed MD, Professor of Dermatology at the Tufts University school of Medicine and Director for the Centre for Blistering Diseases. The lecture touched on the early diagnosis of Pemphigoid of the Pulmonary System (POPS), which would produce better clinical outcomes and prevent mortality in this orphan disease. Prof. Abdul Razzaque, stated, “It is very important to educate people about this disease which effects most people under the age of 40. Conferences like Dubai Derma, where people visit from around the world, give us the chance to spread early awareness about these diseases and diagnose them in an early stage where we can save patient’s lives.”

Dubai Derma 2023 also successfully hosted the Derma Business Hub, an exclusive platform for exhibitors and selected buyers to meet and discuss opportunities to close deals in a dedicated environment. The Derma Business Hub facilitated more than 800 pre-arranged meetings and involved more than 250 participants between investors and exhibitors from over 30 countries.

Mr. Yubin Seo, General Manager, Sales & Marketing of DSmedi, Inc., South Korea, expressed his gratitude for a rewarding experience of participating in the Derma Business Hub. He stated: “Thank you so much for the excellent job of arranging my business meetings smoothly throughout the exhibition and supporting the participants so well. I am so satisfied with the excellent job of the Derma Business Hub Team; I will come back for Dubai Derma 2024.”

Mr. Omar Al Jumaili, Executive Director, Al Wasl Aesthetic Clinic – UAE, stated: “The event was successful for us, Derma Business Hub program was well organized and beneficial for our business. The organizing team were cooperative and dedicated, and always available to assist us in making sure that meetings were taking place. We look forward to meeting again in the next edition of Dubai Derma.”

On the last day of the event, Dubai Derma Organizing Committee presented the Dubai Derma 2023 Awards to recognize the excellent representation of some participating companies and proudly awarded the Best Booth Design Award to DexLevo Inc. from South Korea; Best Booth Activities to Sesderma SL from Spain; and Best Stand Space Optimization to Dermoaroma from Italy. 

The 23rd edition of Dubai Derma will be held from 5th–7th of March 2024 and be organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organization L.L.C – a member of INDEX Holding, in cooperation with the Pan Arab League of Dermatology, Arab Academy of Dermatology Aesthetics (AADA) and GCC League of Dermatologists.

The event was also supported by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), Pakistan Association of Dermatologists (PAD), Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists (SLCD), Georgian Association of Photodermatology and Skin Cancer (GAPSC).
