“ARAB HEALTH IS A CRITICAL EXHIBITION THAT ALLOWS US TO SHOW OUR LATEST INNOVATIONS”

Hill-Rom is a leading provider of medical technologies for the healthcare industry by focusing on patient care solutions to enhance outcomes for patients and their caregivers.  ‘Hospitals’ magazine met with Mrs. Mieke Hautekeete, Marketing Director, Mr. Nabil Mehdi, Marketing Director and Mr. Tarek Choucair, Marketing Director and shed light on the latest innovations at Arab Health 2018.

Hill-Rom has accustomed us to greater achievements every year. First, we would like to know about the company’s latest accomplishments?

2017 was a very successful year, not only from a financial perspective with record revenue and profit but also in terms of the innovations we’ve been able to bring to market.

In particular, we’d highlight the Hill-Rom 900 Accella, a new bed for higher acuity patients in intensive and acute care settings in international markets including the Middle East. In addition, we recently introduced the TruSystem™ 3000 Mobile Operating Table, a cost-effective, reliable and flexible operating table available in most countries in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Could you tell us about Hill-Rom’s latest acquisition of Mortara? What is its importance for both parties? What are the main goals of such an acquisition?

Mortara is an industry leader in diagnostic cardiology and is an excellent fit with our Front Line Care business, which includes our well-known Welch Allyn brand. By bringing together Mortara’s expertise in cardiology, we are able to significantly strengthen our patient monitoring and diagnostic innovations. In fact, we recently introduced Connex Cardio, the first Welch Allyn product developed jointly with Mortara.

What are the companies’ latest innovations especially in the field of patient care and do they add value from Clinical and Operational benefits?

We are a very patient- and caregiver-oriented company, which means that all of our innovations are designed to help ensure the best possible patient outcomes with intuitive, clinically valuable products that enhance the economics of the healthcare facility.

And we are achieving that goal across our portfolio, from our Patient Support Systems business and the new beds, surfaces, and clinical workflow technology, to our Front Line Care business – which includes new respiratory care and diagnostic innovations and our Surgical Solutions business with innovative operating room technologies.

After your transformational journey and your acquisitions during the last few years of several well-renowned healthcare companies, you have gained today a wide and diversified portfolio. What are your long-term strategic and financial objectives?

Our key objectives focus on accelerating growth, advancing innovation with new products, continuing our portfolio transformation and driving operational execution and strong financial performance. Our diversified portfolio is the main factor that will help us achieve accelerated growth and better-operating margins in the coming years.

How important is Arab Health as a platform for Hill-Rom to launch its new innovations in the region and how do you see this exhibition?

The Middle East is an exciting region for Hill-Rom and, in fact, was our top performing region in 2017! Arab Health is a critical exhibition for us, a singular event on the calendar that allows us to interact with our customers in a setting that includes our latest innovations across the portfolio.

What are the latest innovations that were showcased at Arab Health 2018 exhibition?

In our continued tradition of innovations, we are thrilled to introduce two outstanding solutions as well as the latest technologies spanning the entire hospital spectrum, including:

  • Primary Care: Connex Integrated Wall System, Spot Vision Screener, Mortara and Welch Allyn physical assessment
  • Screener, Mortara and Welch Allyn physical assessment
  • Intensive Care Unit: Progressa™ MetaNeb® and HillRom® 900 Accella™ as a new bed
  • Operating Room: TruSystem™ 7000, iLED 7  and TruPort.
  • Connectivity Solutions: Clinical Workflow Solution and connected Vital Signs solutions.

What is the main mission of Hill-Rom?

Our approach as a group is to really go to the hospitals and provide them with solutions.  We always look at the safety of the patient, we work on reducing errors and limiting hospital stay.  Each one of us has a different angle, but because of our wide portfolio, we intend to give a complete solution and enhancing the outcomes for patients and caregivers simultaneously.
