Premiere for Arab Health 2023: Experience an intelligent patient room ecosystem

By Jitka Stranska, Managing Director LINET MEA

Healthcare is changing rapidly. We are facing massive challenges connected with demographical transformation and at the same time a dramatic shortage of caregivers.

The population is growing and aging globally. We have recently passed 8 billion people on the planet. Among other things, these trends impact patient care and create more demands on healthcare systems and healthcare workers. Some studies project that 9 million nurses will be needed by 2030, but the shortage of caregivers is already an issue.

    • 54 million people working in healthcare
    • 27 million healthcare workers are nurses, the largest occupation in the segment
    • 70 % of nurses are women
    • 52 years is the median age of nurses
    • 47 % of nurses reported back pain

To respond to global trends in the healthcare segment and to meet caregivers’ needs and the needs of healthcare providers, we, in the LINET Group, are developing and manufacturing medical beds with high-added value designed to help you care. Our solutions enhance healthcare forces for nurses and deliver real optimization of workflow and cost of care.

Lateral tilt as a gold standard to help

One of the best examples of how a bed designed to address in-bed patient care can bring tangible benefits to the patient, nurse, and management, is bed-framed lateral tilt. This signature attribute of the LINET brand found its role in the ICU and is now entering the acute care environment as the gold standard.

The effect of the lateral tilt of the loading surface is that through a slight rotation, recumbent patients are turned over on their side. With the bed tilted to the side, the nurse uses up to 67% less force when turning the patient than with the same operation on a normal bed. One nurse, instead of two, can handle the patient and make the bed. This allows the patient to be given full care even when the number of staff is reduced, for example on weekends or night shifts. And what real impact does it have? For a unit with 20 beds, lateral tilt can bring a net time saving of ~ 9 hours of nursing time per day, which saves 3,418 nurse working hours per year!

Intelligent beds for the future

While lateral tilting is focused on particular operations and reducing the load of work of the caregiver’s daily routine, the next generation of LINET´s medical beds is heading even further into the future. With its smart platform, it enables data usage to emphasize decreasing the number of unnecessary operations and simplify caregivers’ procedures, which is even more relevant in times of nurse shortage.

When you face an increasing number of patients and a lack of caregivers at the same time, LINET brings you a solution specifically designed to continuously monitor each one of your patients, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week remotely. It provides a remote overview of the patients’ safe position in the bed or smart alert when the patient is at risk of pressure injuries or even falls. The bed-integrated monitoring system works on the principle of collecting data, which the system evaluates and provides relevant and constantly updated information to caregivers anywhere and on any display device.

Such intelligent systems can be extremely beneficial to patients and caregivers as well as healthcare providers.

Smart solutions by LINET are constantly being developed and extended to respond to the real needs of you, our end-users. Experience an intelligent patient room ecosystem including our new acute care bed for the future in the Intelligent Pavilion at Arab Health 2023.
