Firsts That Paved the Way
- First hospital in Turkey to receive the JCI Accreditation Quality Certificate (Joint Commission International), and the 21st globally.
- First private hospital in Turkey licensed by the Ministry of Health for organ transplantation (liver and kidney) and related laboratory services in March 2004.
- Performed the first pediatric mismatched liver transplant in Turkey.
- Conducted the first bloodless liver transplant in Turkey.
- First in Turkey to perform organ removal from a liver transplant donor using Vinci Robotic Surgery.
- Executed the first robotic kidney transplant in Turkey.
- For the first time in Turkey, combined pediatric, robotic, diabetes, and obesity surgeries on a single patient.
- Conducted Turkey’s first stitchless corneal transplant.
- Prof. Dr. Semra Kahraman, Head of Memorial IVF Center, achieved pregnancy for the first time in Turkey using the microinjection method.
- Produced heart muscle cells from embryonic stem cells at Memorial Hospital in 2004.
- Performed aortic aneurysm surgery using a special technique through a 2cm incision, accomplishing four different procedures in the same session, including the replacement of the patient’s aortic valve, aortic root, and aortic valve with the first fully biological structure (Freestyle) endoscopically, and a procedure on the carotid artery.
- First hospital in Turkey to utilize advanced methods such as capsule endoscopy and endostent.
- Memorial Antalya Hospital is the first IVF center in Turkey accredited by the American Embryology Society.
- Memorial Şişli Hospital Tissue Typing and Immunology Laboratory is the first private lab in Turkey accredited by the European Federation for Immunogenetics (EFI).
- Memorial Şişli Hospital IVF Laboratory is the first IVF lab in Turkey accredited by TÜRKAK Accreditation Agency according to ISO 15189 standards.
- First in Turkey and Europe to perform kidney surgery on a 2.5-month-old baby using robotic surgery.
